Shrewsbury International School Guangzhou seeks to appoint an Assistant Principal (Academic) to the founding team which will open the school for selected Year groups in September 2022.
Shrewsbury Guangzhou provides an exciting opportunity for an educational leader, steeped in experience of the British (English National) Curriculum, to join the founding team which is launching this premium brand school.
The Assistant Principal will either have experience of working in China or exhibit the aptitude to thrive in this environment. The Assistant Principal will be attracted to the pioneering opportunity of shaping a new school in its founding years and will ideally have through-school experience.

The school in Nansha is the fourth campus in the Shrewsbury International Asia group. The proven success of Shrewsbury International School Bangkok (Riverside), founded in 2003, created the platform to open two purpose-built primary schools in 2018 – Shrewsbury International School Bangkok (City Campus) and Shrewsbury International School Hong Kong. Each campus is affiliated with Shrewsbury School in the United Kingdom, founded by Royal Charter in 1552 and one of Britain’s famous ‘Great Nine’ schools.

The school has the capacity to enrol 2,200 students, ranging from Early Years to IGCSEs and A Levels in the Sixth Form.
The medium of instruction will be English, with the ultimate goal of graduates to enter the top universities of the world. There will be a through-school emphasis on Chinese language excellence and respect for Chinese culture.
The co-curricular programme will develop the whole child with a clear focus on sport, cultural activities, community engagement and outdoor education. The uniquely designed curriculum and learning pathways, both within the classroom and in extra-curricular activity, will enable each student in our care to achieve to their best potential and fulfilment.
The school has a premium boarding facility for 900 students, from Y8 to Y13. The boarding houses will be run in the style of a British independent boarding school. Living as boarders, our students will develop strong and resilient social and emotional intelligence.

An attractive compensation package includes an accommodation allowance during the pre-operating phase, housing on the campus once the school is open; medical insurance; a flight and relocation allowance; and, once the school is open, tuition fee remission as per the school’s policy.
The initial contract period will be 3 years with the hope that this will be renewed through mutual agreement.
