Position Summary: 
The Early Childhood Music & Movement Specialist will help students from Preschool (age 3) – Kindergarten experience developmentally appropriate music and movement activities in a group classroom setting. Responsibilities include creating fun, age-appropriate music learning experiences, and leading group music and movement lessons. Lesson plans should effectively deliver an early childhood music and movement curriculum. The teacher will work with school administration and other members of the early childhood team to plan and deliver experiences that expand to the homeroom classroom. Some curriculum development and training responsibilities may be required.
 
Requirements:
Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant subject area.
  • A certification in education.          
  • Advanced degree or specialization training that supports the teaching role, preferred.   
Experience   
  • Minimum 2 years successful teaching in a school setting.
  • Teaching in the subject area and with the age of students assigned.
  • Working successfully with an ethnically diverse population.
  • Working with students with learning differences.
  • Working with students who are English Language Learners (ELL).
  • Working in an international school setting and familiarity with the American educational system, preferred.
  • Creating units of work using Universal by Design (UbD) strategies, preferred.
Skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the developmental needs and milestones of students in the age group you are teaching.
  • Knowledgeable about:
  • Developing appropriate practices
  • Using a variety of formative assessments, progress monitoring tools, and differentiated learning strategies
  • The content and pedagogy
  • Effective communicator – communicates well with a diverse community of parents, staff, and leaders; proficient writing skills.
  • Highly skillful at using and integrating technology.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Undertake additional duties that may reasonably be assigned or requested by the Supervisor such as leading student trips, serving as chaperon roles as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
