Job Duties

  • 1, Contributing to a positive and supportive learning environment by using effective teaching strategies and promoting learning consistent with student needs.
  • 2, Contributing positively and appropriately as a member of the academic faculty, programme teams and the Centre in all academic-related activities.
  • 3, To design and teach lessons at the appropriate level and quality as required by Economics curricula. You may also be required from time-to-time to contribute to or lead modules and programmes.
  • 4, To design and mark formative assessments and monitor students’ learning, in conjunction with other lecturers where appropriate.
  • 5, To engage pro-actively with partners, viz. NCUK (Northern Consortium UK) and external organisations as required.
  • 6, To be involved in setting, invigilating, and marking examinations when required.
  • 7, To undertake research and scholarly activity relevant to Economics and its application to programmes offered by the Centre and the wider research objectives of the Centre.
  • 8, To maintain accurate records of student performance and of teaching and learning activity. To monitor student attendance and, as required, to prepare appropriate reports.

 

Qualification

  • 1. A relevant academic qualification at UK graduate level (Essential).
  • 2. Relevant teaching experience (Essential). Normally a minimum of two years. This experience should relate to the delivery of a Western-style syllabus using Western conventions and methodologies. Significant teaching/programme management experience at a reputable university may also be acceptable.
  • 3. A recognised teaching qualification in relevant subject (Desirable).
  • 4. The ability to contribute to integrated teaching across the curriculum (Essential).
  • 5. An understanding of UK/western higher education and the needs and requirements of international students (Essential).
  • 6. Direct experience of further and higher education in an international context (Essential).
  • 7. Experience of the development of academic programmes (Desirable).
  • 8. Experience of academic assessment and standards, and of quality assurance procedures (Desirable).
  • 9. Experience of teaching non-native speakers of English (Desirable).
  • 10. An understanding and appreciation of private sector education (Desirable).
  • 11. AP, A-LEVEL, IB Teaching experience preference
