Job Description:
- a. Coordinate and implement educational curriculum by developing classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards.
- b. Plan individual and group age-appropriate activities to actively engage children and encourage social, cognitive, and emotional growth.
- c. Provide emotional and behavioral support to children as indicated by creating a positive environment that supports emotional connections between children and adults and between children and their peers.
- d. Manage the classroom to support children’s development as indicated by setting clear age-appropriate expectations for children’s behavior.
- e. Provide engaged instructional support for learning as indicated by using interactions and discussions to promote higher-order thinking skills and cognition.
- f. Coordinate and conduct developmental screenings and ongoing child assessment following center guidance.
- g. Ensure all center policies, state, and local regulations are met.
- h. Supervise teacher assistant and classroom volunteers to ensure they are following planned activities and maintaining appropriate hygiene, cleanliness, and safety standards.
- i. Lead by example; encourage teaching team success through modeling and coaching.
- j. Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions, progress reports, and parent- teacher conferences.
- k. Maintain accurate records, forms and files.
- l. Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.
Essential Teacher Qualifications
- a. Able to differentiate instruction
- b. Has experience teaching or tutoring with respective age group
- c. Able to create positive classroom community and build relationships with students
- d. Able to engage students in rigorous content and well-planned, well-paced lessons
- e. Skilled in classroom management (high warm and high firm)
- f. Has excitement, joy and passion for teaching kids and personal development/learning
- g. Has strong verbal and written communication skills with kids, employees, and parents
- h. Open to feedback and continuous growth
- i. Creative in instructional and classroom management strategies
- j. Cooperative, collaborative, supportive, flexible
- k. Well organized
- l. Has a strong work ethic and do whatever it takes mindset
Requirements
- a. Bachelor or equivalent degree in early childhood education, master degree preferred
- b. Experience in Chinese tradition, language and curriculum preferred
- c. At least 2 years experience as Preschool/Child Care Center teacher preferred
- d. Teacher certificate preferred
- e. Experience in supporting English Language Learners preferred
- f. Ability to establish collaborative working relationships with various stakeholders, including parents, employees and community partners
- g. Good interpersonal and communication skills — written, oral and platform
- h. Proficient in technology, including MS Office (including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
