Wellington College Tianjin currently comprises of three schools. Together they serve approximately

JOB TITLE: LABORATORY TECHNICIAN
DEPARTMENT: SCIENCE
REPORT TO: HEAD OF SCIENCE
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Line managing a team including two junior technicians to ensure that the following responsibilities
related to the science department are met:
• Preparing chemicals & laboratory apparatus for science lessons and science presentation activities such
as open evenings.
• Washing & storing all science equipment, including glassware, in preparation areas and classrooms after
use
• Maintaining safe storage & well-organized inventory of chemicals, apparatus and following discussion
with the Head of Department, reordering as required
• Ensuring the science department complies with local regulations on safety, chemicals, radioactives etc.
• Calibrating and suggesting improvements to experiments written by other science departments/
publishers for use with locally purchased equipment and reagents.
• Assist with other administrative responsibilities as delegated by HoD including but not limited to
organizing displays, keeping records, organising science textbooks, purchasing equipment and reagents
in order that the department runs smoothly and efficiently as is possible.
• Occasionally supporting teachers within class support during experimental activities
• Supervising students during Lab Technician ASA activity and in completing their annual science fair
projects
• Promote language development and model expectations by always speaking to pupils in English
PERSONAL QUALIFICATION:
• College/University degree or above in a science subject (preferably chemistry)
• Native Mandarin Speaker
• Excellent Spoken & written English, and CET 6 above
• Familiarity with handling chemicals
• Ability to plan ahead and meet deadlines
• An understanding of the importance of safety in their work
