Job Overview

Position Title:     MS/HS Reflective Spiritual Beings (RSB) Classroom Teacher
Division:              MS/HS
Supervisor:         Division Principals 
Position Summary:
The Reflective Spiritual Beings (RSB) teacher will have the primary responsibility of teaching RSB courses within Concordia’s middle and high school students. Included are semester long courses for 6th-12th grade that focus on the development of spiritual thought and spiritual well-being. In addition, the RSB teacher will support the Family Life Counselor in the presenting of assemblies and creation of events that promote the spiritual care of both students and faculty.
In order to meet Concordia school-wide learning outcomes (SLOs) and grade level expectations, the teacher carries out the following broad and specific responsibilities across the following domains: Planning and Preparation, Classroom Management, Instruction, and Professional Responsibilities.
  • Bachelor’s Degree with experience teaching spirituality in a school setting
  • Advanced degree or specialization training that supports the teaching role, preferred. 
  • Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS) training, preferred. 
▪       Minimum 2 years successful teaching in a school setting.           
▪       Working in an international school setting and familiarity with the American educational system, preferred. 
▪       Working successfully with an ethnically diverse population, preferred. 
▪       Teaching in the subject area and with the age of students assigned, preferred. 
▪       Creating units of work using ‘UbD’ strategies, preferred. 
▪       Working with students with learning needs or ELL, preferred. 
▪       Excellent knowledge of the developmental needs of students in the age group you are teaching.
▪       Knowledge of and experience in using a variety of assessments and differentiated learning techniques.
▪       Grounded in knowledge about teaching and learning
▪       Excellent knowledge of the content and pedagogy
▪       Demonstrates respect for teachers as professionals and as adult learners
▪       Effective communicator – communicates well with a diverse community, proficient writing skills
▪       Highly skillful at using technology
▪       Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Additional employment expectations:  
    • Collaborate with Teaching Assistants/Support Staff in working with or monitoring children and managing clerical tasks. Establish expectations and guidelines for these adults in the learning environment and help them understand their roles/responsibilities.
    • Undertake additional duties that may reasonably be assigned or requested by the Supervisor such as leading student trips, serving as chaperon roles as needed.
