MS MYP Physical & Health Education

 

We are looking for a creative and inspiring teacher to teach MYP Physical & Health Education at WAB Middle School.

JOB DESCRIPTION / KEY EXPECTATIONS

The MYP Physical & Health Education (PHE) teacher will work collaboratively with other department members and support teachers as needed to develop common unit plans, effective and engaging learning experiences and assessment strategies congruent with WAB’s assessment guidelines and curriculum. The MYP PHE teacher will, whenever appropriate, employ an inquiry-based approach and differentiate lessons to support the needs and interests of individual students. The MYP PHE teacher is expected to serve as a mentor teacher, contribute to the extra curricular activities of the school and be involved in school development. The MYP PHE teacher is supported by the MS Head of PHE in the implementation of the MYP PHE curriculum, assessment and reporting processes.

The successful applicant is expected to have the following skills, abilities, knowledge, experience and qualifications:

Teachers at WAB:

  • Demonstrate ongoing engagement with and understanding of China as WAB’s host country;
  • Participate in school wide and section specific school improvement initiatives;
  • Engage in all duties relevant to supporting student wellbeing, safeguarding and learning;
  • Fulfill quality assurance expectations and actively pursue professional growth.

Knowledge and application of:

  • Contemporary teaching and learning theories and practices
  • Collaborative planning, teaching and assessment
  • Appropriate technologies to enhance learning on campus, online or hybrid setting
  • General PHE content (G6-8 IB MYP)

Personal Skills and Abilities:

  • Skills in working with a range of students of different abilities, interests and backgrounds
  • Skills in inquiry-based and concept driven approaches
  • Creativity, resilience and love of diversity

At least two years working experience:

  • As a full time PHE Teacher in a classroom setting
  • With diverse students from a range of cultural and educational backgrounds including those with EAL, learning support, counseling and enrichment needs (preferred)
  • Teaching IB MYP (preferred)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree (specializing in PHE)
  • Recognized Teaching Qualification and/or Registration
  • Completed IB MYP workshops (preferred)
