Job description
Seeking a dedicated and compassionate Performing Arts Teacher to join our Performing Arts Department at Huitong, ensuring that we develop and maintain excellent, efficient, and appropriate processes that optimise students’ performance and learning outcomes, and are consistent with, and supportive of, the School’s Vision, Mission, Values, and Graduate Profile.
THE JOB
This role centers on providing both immediate and long-term support for students’ artistic development and creative growth, helping them cultivate confidence, self-expression, and a passion for music. The ideal candidate will be skilled at designing and delivering engaging, age-appropriate music instruction that nurtures students’ interests in instrumental and vocal performance, composition, and music appreciation. They will work collaboratively with teachers, students, and parents to coordinate concerts and performances, foster a vibrant arts culture, and ensure each student feels inspired, supported, and empowered to explore their musical potential at Huitong.
The PAT responsibilities include:
· Establish positive, supportive, and professional relationships with students, families, and faculty to foster artistic development, creative confidence, and a nurturing school environment.
· Design, develop, and deliver engaging performing arts lesson plans for the related disciplines to meet individual creative needs while accommodating diverse learning styles.
· Guide students in developing effective strategies for performance resilience, creative decision-making, collaborative ensemble work, and artistic self-expression, tailored to their age and developmental stage.
· Monitor student progress through performance assessments, rehearsals, classroom observations, and ongoing feedback, adjusting instructional approaches and support strategies to nurture evolving talents.
· Adapt teaching methods to suit diverse artistic abilities, reinforcing core performance values and skills across various artistic contexts.
· Collaborate closely with faculty and staff to align performing arts initiatives with overall curriculum objectives, ensuring cohesive programming and holistic student growth.
· Perform administrative tasks such as updating progress records and tracking the effectiveness of performing arts curricula and events.
· Contribute to curriculum development and enrichment programmes related to the performing arts, supporting interdisciplinary initiatives aimed at fostering a vibrant, inclusive school arts culture.
· Work collaboratively with the broader educational team to ensure seamless coordination and adaptability in response to evolving priorities for student artistic and creative education.
THE PERSON
The successful candidate will have:
· Bachelor’s degree in Performing Arts, Music, Theatre, Dance, Education (with a focus on arts education), or a related field.
· A minimum of 3 years of experience teaching performing arts to students across the K-12 spectrum, holding a recognised teaching certification from the relevant Education Bureau.
· Strong organisational and technological skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with faculty, students, and parents from diverse backgrounds.
· Strong English speaker ability required; linguistic proficiency in Mandarin Chinese highly desirable.
· Demonstrated expertise in assessing students’ artistic development and performance skills, tailoring instructional methods and support to nurture individual talents, and maintaining comprehensive records of student progress and achievements.
· Ability to inspire and actively engage students in the performing arts through dynamic, creative activities that foster collaboration, self-expression, resilience, and personal growth.
