Maple Leaf Education North America Ltd. (MLENA) wishes to employ a person to be President of MLENA with a particular focus on the establishment and operation of Chinese Learning & Testing Centre in Richmond, BC, as well as the expansion of such Centres across Canada.

Job Duties:
- Management of MLENA and promoting the development and growth of the operations of MLENA, and other duties as would reasonably be expected of a President or chief executive officer of a corporation carrying out the mandate of MLENA;
- Managing the annual operations of MLENA in accordance with plans developed and approved by Shenzhen Maple Leaf Educational Systems (MLES- Shenzhen), and in compliance with all Canadian business practices and legal requirements;
- Leading, mentoring, and evaluating the teaching faculty at the Centre;
- Developing and implementing a business plan and establish annual budget and performance targets for the Centre and providing quarterly reports to MLES-Shenzhen concerning the operation of Centre
- Controlling spending, based on the approved budget;
- Establishing policy directions and documentation for MLENA operations related to hiring and human resource management, financial management, public relations, and other operational requirements;
- Responsible for the establishment, launch, and success of the Centre in meeting its mandate
- Identifying, researching, and assessing new business development opportunities for MLENA in North America
- Responsible for establishing and annually operating Chinese Learning & Testing Centre, compliant with all British Columbia and Canadian business practices and legal requirements.
- Promoting the Centre’s mandate and services throughout Canada to strengthen brand awareness and to expand business opportunities and revenues.
- Meeting with Chairman of MLES- Shenzhen, and other executives to assess the direction of the Centre strategic planning and the development and implementation of short and long-term goals, plans, and strategies.
- Providing strong and effective leadership; responsible for the complete operation of the Centre, allocating human and financial resources to ensure all goals are met based on the approved development plans.
- Hiring and selecting teaching and other staff required for the operation of the Centre.
- Providing strong leadership and oversight of the Centre’s admissions to ensure that annual enrolment goals are met.
- Providing oversight and management of all teaching, examination, and other staff, as well as students.
- Researching potential markets and developing plans to open new Centres across Canada; and once approved by the Chairman and/or Board, to negotiate agreements and open new Centres across Canada.
- Overseeing the operations of additional Centres opened in Canada, including interviewing and hiring the Director for each Centre.
Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s Degree, and education in the field of business administration, or a related field, is required
- Certification as an instructor of Chinese as a Second Language is required
- Fluency in English and Chinese is required
- A strong knowledge and understanding of the market for learners of the Chinese language in Canada; and the capacity to create and implement a targeted marketing plan to reach these learners.
- Proven experience working in the education industry, and a strong understanding of the education sector both internationally and in North America.
- More than 10 years of business experience as a middle or higher-level administrator.
- Proven success in marketing with more than 5 years of experience in successfully meeting marketing goals.
- Business acumen and strong financial and operational knowledge.
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills and international culture literacy.
- Strong entrepreneurial skills
- Demonstrated success in all aspects of developing and establishing new businesses
- Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
