KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

BUSINESS GROWTH AND REPUTATION

Act as a brand advocate, embedding our values in all aspects of people management and development
Assist in change management processes by seeking opportunities to create and deliver value-adding HR initiatives at school and regional Level.
Ensure that the HR agenda supports and enhances the business goals for the region and undertake HR System implementation (Success Factors) and process design/redesign as required.
Responsible for developing a people development plan which supports commercial advantages by aligning business growth opportunities with our commitment to educational excellence.

STRATEGIC & ORGANISATIONAL LEADERSHIP

Responsible for helping to define and deliver the HR Strategy for the region in conjunction with the COO of China Bilingual Schools, Regional Managing Director of China International Schools and CHRO. This will include the development of resource plans, succession plans, training and development programmes and talent management suitable for China Region.
Proactively manage the relationship with stakeholders through consultation and advice centred on strong knowledge and experience of Resourcing, Development, and Employee Relations.
Influence school HR teams within the region to achieve the desired outcomes and the implementation of policy and practice
Accountable for ensuring consistency with Group policies and procedures with consideration of local legislation.
Guide, monitor and assist HR Managers with HR projects and issues within schools.
Responsible for creating and implementing a robust reporting strategy which effectively communicates HR initiatives and issues to the COO of China Bilingual Schools, Regional Managing Director of China International Schools, CHRO and School Principals.

OPERATIONAL EXPERTISE & RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

Employee Relations

Governance and development of a positive employee relations environment across the region, promoting effective communication between employees and the business to ensure commitment and motivation.
Responsible for ensuring all regional policies and procedures reflect local legislation and obligations to government institutions and regulatory authorities
Escalation point for disciplinary and grievance case
Procedures and practices must be both timely and fair and comply with company policy and local labour laws.

Rewards

Proactively assist in the implementation of a reward structure which reflects skill level, actual performance, and market trends in order to attract and retain essential skills and to reward contributions in conjunction with Group HR.
Manage the regional annual salary review process in conjunction with school Principals, COO of China Bilingual Schools and Regional Managing Director of China International Schools.
Develop and implement reward mechanisms to ensure employee motivation and continuous business growth.

Policies and Procedures

Work with the Regional HR team, Group HR Function and business to ensure the effective development of HR policies and practices that meet business and local legislative needs.
To manage the effective development and implementation of all HR related functions
Coach and develop the local regional HR managers to establish effective HR administration practices that are effective and efficient, saving costs ana generating revenue where possible.
Ensure that all statutory documentation where possible is consistent and in line with local legislation e.g., contracts of employment, visas, permits etc.

Recruitment

Responsible for the recruitment process, guidance and advice on appointments within the schools in the region.
Monitor local employment market trends, staff availability, skills shortages, day rates and competitor packages.
Accountable for regional compliance in respect of local police checks, CRC process, monitoring and reporting.
Maintain key measures (aligned to group measures) to assess local HR Performance and benchmark against best practice

DEVELOPING TALENT

Responsible for creating and maintaining senior staff succession plan under the guidance of the COO of China Bilingual Schools and Regional Managing Director of China International Schools.
Support school Principals with Talent Reviews and running Talent Review Boards, as well as with their own personal and professional development plans; acting as an HR Business Partner for coaching and mentoring the Principals around developing high performing teams.
Responsible for People Development plans in conjunction with the Regional Team and School Principals. This will include development needs analysis and budget planning.
Build the capability of the HR managers within schools to enable them proactively to support their business plans and deliver exceptional HR service provision.
Responsible for ensuring each school in the Region operates an annual performance appraisal process which is focused on delivering the Regional business plan

PERSONAL SPECIFICATIONS

HR Professional Qualification from Tier I institute
Knowledge of law in multiple jurisdictions in the region
Experience of managing and working with senior stakeholders
Business focussed HR Director who can evidence strong commercial impact and understanding of the education sector
Knowledge and experience of implementation of best HR practices
Relevant work experience in education industry preferably K-12
Experience of HR governance and compliance
Worked in matrix organization structure
Experience as HR strategic advisor to management
Strong business acumen balancing common sense with commercial advantages
Strong in program management and people management
Strong in HR analytics and decision making.
Ability to lead team in high-growth business
Excellent influencer with the ability to build relationships at a senior level and across different cultures
Experience of handling HR across multiple locations in China
Knowledge and experience of change management
Experience in working Internationally
Certified Coach/ Mentor
