Position Title: STEM Lab Maker Space Technician

Job Summary:
The STEM Lab Maker Space Technician plays a critical role in our international school by ensuring the safe and effective use of STEM lab facilities across all school levels. These spaces include one STEM Lab and two maker spaces. This position focuses on maintaining a secure learning environment, promoting the proficient use of specialized equipment, supporting technology-based projects that incorporate STEM subjects, and enhancing educational experience for all students.
The STEM Lab Maker Space Technician plays a critical role in our international school by ensuring the safe and effective use of STEM lab facilities across all school levels. These spaces include one STEM Lab and two maker spaces. This position focuses on maintaining a secure learning environment, promoting the proficient use of specialized equipment, supporting technology-based projects that incorporate STEM subjects, and enhancing educational experience for all students.
Work Hours:
- Around 90 days is a work schedule from 11:00 to 20:00, with two designated meal breaks, half an hour each.
- The rest is on a work schedule from 8:00-16:30 with a half an hour lunch break.
Requirements
Education:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Technology Education, or a related discipline.
- Certifications in safety protocols and equipment operation preferred.
Experience:
- 2 years minimum experience in a maker space, lab, or educational setting.
- Proven experience with equipment such as laser cutters, 3D printers, drill presses, welding, and soldering tools.
Skills
- Language requirement: strong communication skills in English.
- Safety Training: Ability to conduct safety orientations and training sessions for students and staff.
- Certification: Proficient in certifying individuals in the safe use of lab equipment.
- Safety Protocols: Strong understanding of safety protocols and enforcement practices.
- Equipment Maintenance: Skill in troubleshooting and conducting regular maintenance on laboratory equipment.
- Inventory Management: Skills in maintaining an up-to-date inventory and managing procurement of materials.
- Technical Expertise: Ability to assist in the development and execution of STEM-related projects.
- Collaboration: Experience collaborating with non-STEM faculty to integrate maker space resources into curricula.
- Event Coordination Assistance: Capable of coordinating after-school STEM activities and events.
- Preparation Skills: Proficient in preparing and setting up labs for experiments and demonstrations.
- Community Engagement: Experience participating in community and school events related to STEM.
- Administrative Skills: Strong organizational skills for maintaining records and managing lab scheduling. Conduct comprehensive safety orientations and training sessions.
- Certify students and staff in the safe use of equipment such as laser cutters, 3D printers, drill presses, welding, and soldering tools.
- Implement and rigorously enforce safety protocols.
Key Areas of Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance and Inventory:
- Perform regular maintenance and troubleshooting of all lab equipment. Including cleanliness and order of the lab working area and equipment.
- Maintain an up-to-date inventory of tools, materials, and supplies in STEM lab and maker spaces.
- Manage the procurement and restocking of materials, ensuring alignment with budgetary guidelines. This includes purchasing materials and tools whenever necessary.
- Assist teachers in the STEM Lab.
- Assist students’ projects and ECAs.
- Set up laboratory demonstrations for regular classes.
After-School Activities:
- Assist and supervise after-school STEM activities and clubs.
- Assist and Implement STEM workshops and enrichment programs for students’ safety and machine use.
- Assist with events such as robotics competitions, drone activities, Maker Faire, Parent Bash, and other STEM-related events.
Other duties as assigned.
