OBJECTIVES
The ideal candidate will be responsible for the following:
- To complement delivery of the curriculum and contribute to the development of the Chinese Department, pupils and school policies and strategies.
- To work collaboratively with all Chinese Department staff and assist subject leaders in the whole planning cycle and the preparation of resources.
- To provide support for pupils, colleagues and the school in order to raise standards of achievement for all, by utilizing advanced levels of knowledge and skills when carrying out planning, monitoring, assessing and managing classes, and to encourage pupils to become independent learners.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Mainly teach Chinese to pupils from Yr1 to Yr6 second language Chinese and foreign language Chinese, but has the ability to teach first language Chinese
- Display a high standard of professionalism in teaching
- Teach Chinese to students as set out in Chinese curriculum
- Keep up to date with curriculum development
- Take responsibility for curriculum delivery in line with school and departmental policies and procedures
- Participate in compiling textbooks and curriculum development
- Record pupils’ learning experience
- Maintain an ongoing formative assessment program related to Progress of Studies and associated learning objectives
- Write reports on pupil performance in accurate English
- Promote positive communication with parents and the community
- Plan activities both inside and outside the classroom
- Attend departmental meetings, Parents’ Evenings and staff meetings as required
- Participate in school events
- Any other duties commensurate with the post

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor Degree (or above) graduate
- Teacher Certificate of Teaching Chinese
- Teaching experience in an international school ideal
- Minimum of two years of successful teaching experience
- Ideally with experience of teaching Chinese to pupils of first language
- Good command of English in listening, speaking, reading and writing
- Be highly motivated, creative and collaborative
