Our English Department at the British School of Guangzhou is creative and dedicated department, promoting high performance from students and fostering a love of both language and literature across all year groups. We pride ourselves in making the best use of traditional and modern methods to deliver an engaging, challenging and rewarding curriculum for students so that they can achieve their highest potential in school and take the skills of critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving and decision-making into their lives far beyond school.

At BSG, we pride ourselves on being a ‘reading school’ – and recognise the importance of reading widely both inside and outside of school – therefore previous experience and confidence using Accelerated Reader would also be an advantage.

The successful candidate would preferably be able to deliver KS3, GCSE and A-Level English within an environment which has the highest academic expectations.

We’ll look to you to promote the highest expectations for our students, to design engaging and challenging learning activities that are aligned to our school’s curriculum and to create a learning culture where there are no upper limits to what can be achieved. You will foster an environment of respect and progress within the classroom, facilitating learning through activities that reflect a growth mindset.

The successful candidate will be joining a dynamic and passionate team of teachers in a well-established school. You will be able to adapt quickly to our fast-paced international environment, you will possess a university degree, a recognised teaching qualification and ideally, considerable teaching experience. All our staff are expected to promote the Core Values of the British School of Guangzhou and be able to ensure that teaching and learning meets the needs and expectations of the individual children, and the wider school community. You will be expected to demonstrate thorough curriculum knowledge and a proactive approach towards the wellbeing of children, yourself, and others, including your own professional development.
