Location: The British International School Shanghai, Puxi (BISS Puxi)

We’re looking to recruit a Teacher of Native German to join our BISS Puxi school, a Nord Anglia Education school.

THE SCHOOL

The British International School Shanghai, Puxi is a truly international school, with over fifty-five nationalities represented in the school community. It is a day school with outstanding teaching and learning for all ages from 18 months to 18 years old. Our pupils broadly follow the English National Curriculum up to Year 11, followed by the IB Diploma Programme in Years 12 and 13. This is enriched by our collaborations with Juilliard, MIT, UNICEF, and IMG Academy. These partnerships serve to enrich pupil experiences in performing arts, STEAM, internationalism and sports respectively. The school is non-selective and yet pupils consistently achieve IB Diploma averages that are over 5 points above global averages as well as IGCSE results in which most students achieve 5+ A/A* grades. Pupils have the opportunity to learn Mandarin, French, German, Spanish, Dutch, Korean and English as an additional language.

THE ROLE

Join our fast-paced international environment, and you will deliver UK National Curriculum, IGSCE and International Baccalaureate programmes. You will challenge your students to set ambitious targets for themselves and seek out and use innovative teaching practices to enhance our students’ experiences and outcomes.

ABOUT YOU

You will be able to adapt quickly to our fast-paced international environment, you will possess a university degree, a recognised teaching qualification, and teaching experience. Committed and creative, you will be reflective on your own teaching and student outcomes, seeking out and implementing new ideas and innovative methods to raise pupils’ level of achievement.

Keen to collaborate and share your specialist expertise, you will be a fitting ambassador for the school. You will communicate with confidence across diverse audiences and situations, using your expertise to build strong relationships with parents, students and colleagues. You will also be able to meet visa-related requirements for China, including a minimum Bachelor degree and 2 years of working experience as well as non-criminal records valid within 6 months.

OUR GLOBAL ACADEMIC RESULTS

The 2022-2023 school year was a strong one in terms of Nord Anglia Education students’ academic results. For the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, our students achieved a 33.5 global point average, exceeding the global average of 30.2. 5 students earned a perfect score of 45 and 13% achieved scores of 40+. In A-levels, our students achieved 48% of grades at A*-A, along with 77% at A*-B. The group’s latest IGCSE student cohort, achieved an excellent set of results, with 50% of grades at A/7+ for the year and 88% at C/4+.
