Tennis Coach
Director of Sport and, if appropriate, a future Head of Tennis
Wellington College International is seeking an ambitious individual to assist in the
development of a successful tennis programme emphasising excellence, participation
and building long lasting community links. The candidate will deliver high-quality
coaching by attending matches (within CCA and external conferences), tournaments
(domestic/abroad), teaching in curriculum (where appropriate), lead and manage
coaches daily. The Head tennis coach will work closely with the Director of Sport &
Head of Physical Education Department to implement strategies and curriculum
initiatives to lay firm foundations for future sporting success, personal fulfilment, and
lasting happiness in all pupils.
Immediate responsibility for Tennis @ Wellington
o Preparation and training of school teams
o Delivery of tennis in CCA programme across school
o Input into PE curriculum as appropriate, including curriculum lessons
and specialist withdrawals
o Travel with school teams as required locally, nationally and
o Input into Schemes of Learning, SoP etc relating to tennis
oo Take responsibility for organising and running tennis competitions at
Wellington – internally and for the wider community
o Support FoW initiatives and parent teaching sessions and also Staff
tennis provision
o Ensure that the tennis environment is suitably well maintained
o Build and maintain links with other relevant parties-FoW & local
schools etc
Enhancement of tennis @ Wellington
o Support the tennis component of Sports Scholar programme
o Take specific responsibility for Performance groups (tennis) within the
Competitive Sports programme
o Providing tennis players with coaching tips and training programmes
o Analyise player performance post tournament/match to provide
adjustments in training
o Support in talent spotting of pupils at Wellington and suggesting pupils
outside of Wellington for transfer
o Track progress of pupils within the tennis programme
o Create developmental and scholar tennis holiday camps in line with
schools’ policies
o Lead in whole school tennis house competitions
o Coordinate as appropriate with any Company responsible for
delivering external tennis programmes
o Coordinate as appropriate with outside agencies in further enhancing
the competitive opportunities available to Wellington students
o Coordinate information between heads of school, PE/sports
CPD and quality assurance
o Provide regular CPD as required for all coaches and staff within the
tennis programme and PE curriculum
o Assist the DoS in regular appraisal and review of staff within tenniso Maintain tennis equipment and report loss or damage
Strategic planning
o Assist the DoS in formulating a calendar that includes periodised
training for Wellington students within the tennis programme
o Assist the DoS in creating a budget that supports the development of
tennis at Wellington to include equipment, staffing, facilities
o Support the HoPE in formulating statements, targets etc to improve
the reporting process within the School
Ability to use schools communication platforms
